Pinlook guide

From photos to a shoppable lookbook on your store in five steps.

1. Create a lookbook and add photos

Click Create lookbook, give it a name and drag in your photos (or press Choose photos). They're saved to your store's own Files, so they load fast from Shopify's CDN.

  • Portrait photos (4:5) look best on phones.
  • Drag the thumbnails to change the order.
  • Just exploring? Use Try with sample photos on the home page.

2. Tag the products in each photo

Click directly on an item in the photo — the product picker opens. Choose the product and a numbered dot appears where you clicked.

  • Drag a dot to move it. Select it and use the arrow keys for fine-tuning (Shift moves faster).
  • Use the pencil to swap the product, the bin to remove it.
  • Prefer a list? Press Add products, pick several at once, then drag the dots into place.
  • Thumbnails with an amber “!” still have no products.

3. Pick a layout and check the preview

On the Layout & preview tab choose how your photos are arranged. The preview uses the same code as your store, so you can click the dots and see the product card exactly as shoppers will. Switch between Desktop and Mobile at the top of the preview.

4. Publish

New lookbooks are drafts. On the Publish tab set the status to Published and press Save. You can hide it again at any time — your work is kept.

5. Add it to your theme

Still on the Publish tab, choose where the lookbook should appear: home page, collection pages, product pages or a content page. The theme editor opens with a Pinlook section already added. Then:

  1. In the block settings on the left, pick your lookbook under Lookbook.
  2. Drag the section where you want it on the page.
  3. Press Save in the top right.

Pinlook's home page shows a green Live badge once the block is saved in your published theme.

Common questions

My lookbook doesn't show on my store
  1. Check the lookbook is Published (Home › status badge).
  2. Check the Pinlook block is saved in your published theme — the home page shows where it's live.
  3. If you have several lookbooks, open the block in the theme editor and pick the right one.
  4. Editing a copy of your theme? Blocks only count once that theme is published.
How do I change the dot style, colours or product card?

These are theme settings, so they match your store: open the theme editor, click the Pinlook block and use Pins (dot, plus, number or price; colours; pulse) and Product card (single product or the whole look; price; vendor; corner radius; what happens after Add to cart).

Add to cart opens the cart page instead of the drawer

Pinlook refreshes the cart drawer in Dawn-based themes. Other themes show a small “Added · View cart” message instead. You can also send shoppers straight to the cart: theme editor › Pinlook block › After add to cart.

Can I show a lookbook on product pages?

Yes — Publish tab › Product pages. It appears on every product page that uses that template. To show it only on some products, create an alternate product template in your theme and add the block there.

Will it slow my store down?

No. Lookbooks are rendered by your theme from data stored in your own store — no calls to our servers. The script is about 7 KB, loads only where a lookbook is shown, and images are served by Shopify in the right size for each screen.

Does it work in other languages?

Buttons and labels follow your store language: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Czech and Ukrainian. Translate lookbook names and captions with Shopify's Translate & Adapt app.

Where are my photos stored?

In your store's Files (Content › Files). They stay there even if you delete a lookbook or uninstall.

What's in Free and Pro?
  • Free: 1 lookbook, up to 12 photos, Grid and Slider, unlimited product tags.
  • Pro: unlimited lookbooks, up to 100 photos each, every layout, video, the full-screen viewer and lookbook pages. 14-day free trial; free on development stores.
What happens if I uninstall?

The blocks disappear from your theme automatically and Shopify removes Pinlook's lookbook data. No code is left in your theme. Your photos stay in Files.
